This is one of the most exiting time of the year for big wave riders and surf photographer around the world. Thats because the Billabong XXL Global big waves award Just anouced the nominees for this year award.

It was a huge year for big wave surfing , some of the biggest waves ever seen on fiji , portugal, ireland and in tahiti ,

not maintioning the biggest paddle in sesion ever at peahi.

I was fortuned enough to be present in some of those epic days, and the result of that was to have four of my pictures and one video clip as nominees for this year awards.

two on the monster tube award , Nathan Fletcher at teahupo'o and Kohl Christensen at cloud break .

the other two on the monster paddle award with Dave Wassel and Shane Dorian both at peahi.

Last year I had a fairly good chance of wining the first edition of the "wave of the winter" presented by surf line.com . I had captured one of the most amazing rides at pipeline Brazilian, surfer Thiago camarao simply got a stoning waves on nov 14 2010.

This year the format was a little diferent surfers and videographers had 3 months to submit the videos , and each moth the announced the finalist of the month.

recently was selected the finalist for this year , I'm glad to have a few rides as contenders to the $25.000 prize.

next week they should decide the winner for this year wave of the winter edition.

BLIND FAITH

This images are a small sample of a documentary that I'm working on. It will show a little of the life of Brazilian Blind surfer Derek Rabelo.

And I have to admit, that I never expected that this short video would make it to the news here in Hawaii.

Stephany lum , even invited us over for an interview on the studios and it was nice to get to meet then.
